CRB Island Updates
Dated, attributed CRB milestones and context for community observations. This page is not a live detection map.
Detection information changes. The entries below are selected documented milestones, checked on October 17, 2026. They are not a complete record, a real-time count, or a declaration that unlisted places are free of CRB.
Oʻahu: established islandwide
At the October 17, 2026 source review, CRB Response’s status page described Oʻahu as infested islandwide and explained that its response work focused on ports to reduce export risk. This dated agency account is separate from the observations our community team collects.
Kauaʻi: consult local updates
CRB Response documents detections on Kauaʻi and directs readers to the Kauaʻi Invasive Species Committee for additional local information. This page does not reproduce a cumulative count or infer a current boundary from an older map.
Hawaiʻi Island: July 2025 breeding-site announcement
On July 8, 2025, DLNR announced two CRB breeding sites located in Kona surveys the preceding week and an interagency response. This establishes a dated event; it should not be read as the current number of sites or the current limit of spread. Use the original announcement and subsequent local updates for context.
Maui and Molokaʻi: April 2026 detections
CRB Response’s Maui and Molokaʻi timeline records renewed response activity after an April 1, 2026 beetle detection on Maui and an initial April 7 detection on Molokaʻi.
The Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity reported a second dead adult on Molokaʻi on April 8, 2026, in a detection trap near the airport area. Detection, confirmed breeding, and successful eradication are distinct findings; this page does not substitute one for another.
How future entries should be recorded
Our proposed update format keeps the event date separate from the publication date and this website’s review date. Each entry should link to the original notice, identify the island and general area, and say whether it concerns a suspected observation, confirmed adult, breeding site, management action, or a completed assessment.
When two public pages disagree, retain the source dates and describe the discrepancy. Do not silently convert an old snapshot into a current status. A source link remains useful even when a summary needs revision.
Contribute a community observation
Use our on-site report form to share a suspected sighting from any island. The internal team can review it alongside dated sources and other observations. A report is not a confirmed detection, and public map summaries require separate permission and review.
