Use the word invasive carefully
Introduced and invasive are not interchangeable. Harm to ecosystems, the economy, or human health is part of how HISC describes invasiveness. Cultural importance and ecological effects deserve careful discussion rather than a blanket label for all introduced organisms.
A starting point, not a diagnosis
Photographs and descriptions help narrow an identification. They do not replace confirmation where a management decision depends on knowing the species. Avoid moving suspect plants, organisms, or materials to obtain an identification.
Building the complete library
The State HISC directory covers many more terrestrial and aquatic species. Our migration inventory tracks those source pages for review. We will add independent, attributed summaries and nonchemical information as each topic is checked.
